Feed Uvalde starts with the most physical thing there is: fresh food, grown in the same soil the people eating it live on. Community gardens put fresh produce within reach of every family in Uvalde, and weekly produce boxes carry it to the households that can’t get to a garden, including delivery for seniors.

Health also runs through the work itself. Gardens get people outside, moving, and working alongside their neighbors. A student can spend community service hours in the garden and walk home understanding how the water system she helped build actually works. The gardens are designed around water from day one, including collection systems a family can build from a local supply store, so clean drinking water and drought protection are part of the same project as the food.
